An Oversize/Overweight Load - Trip Permit (OO Trip) is required for the transportation of a load(s) that exceeds the limits prescribed in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), on a specific day(s), on a specific route, that is not already allowed for by a current Oversize/Overweight Load - Annual Permit (OO Annual).

Additional Conditions and Comments

• Before you begin completing this Oversize / Overweight Moving Permit, please ensure you have the following required information readily available for upload to the permit form.  Uploading a clear and legible photo is acceptable if the document is not available digitally.
  
   
  1. An accurate route map.
  2. If the proposed load exceeds 4.15m in height a letter must be submitted verifying the proposed load will not interfere with any overhead structure along the proposed route.
  3. If the proposed gross vehicle load exceeds 63,500kg a detailed axle diagram must submitted.  Overweight load permits require a minimum of 10 business days to process once all required information has been submitted.
  4. A copy of the carrier’s liability insurance in the minimum amount of $5 million and naming the Corporation of the County of Elgin as additionally insured.
  5. Credit Card (Mastercard/Visa Only) / PayPal in order to process the permit fee ($200 standard fee).  A permit approval can be expedited in less than 10 business days if the applicant pays a $400 fee.  If the permit involves an overweight move (>63,500kg) the permit fee is $1300 and will require a minimum of 10 business days to approve.
